What is the New South Wales Police Force?

The New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) is the primary law enforcement agency. It is responsible for maintaining public safety, preventing and investigating crimes, and upholding the law.

Departments

General Duties

General duties are the backbone of the NSWPF. Their duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including patrolling the streets, responding to emergencies and fostering community engagement to name a few.

Education Training Command

The purpose of the Police Education and Training Command is to train officers; they are considered the backbone of the force as they are expected to ensure that officers follow a high standard.

Highway

The NSW Highway Patrol Department is part of the NSW Police Force and consists of officers trained and certified to conduct high-speed driving, pursuit techniques and traffic enforcement.

Major Crimes Division

The Major Crimes Division is responsible for investigating major organisations and large gangs. They have a wide array of tools to help achieve their goals, and crack down on major investigations.

Special Response Taskforce

The Special Response Taskforce is responsible for responding to extreme situations where conventional means are no longer appropriate. The Special Response Taskforce are held to a high standard, and are expected in high-risk tasked operations.

How to apply

To apply to be a Police officer in the NSWPD, there is a criteria that must be met:

  • A minimum of 10 hours

  • No Criminal History

  • Driverโ€™s License
